Benefits of a Career with Kindercare

Professional Development:

To support you in your role, making on-going professional development available to you is a continued focus and priority at Kindercare. You’ll enjoy opportunities to gain new skills and extend your knowledge base through access to current research
Professional development for Early Childhood Teachers includes the opportunity to attend workshops run by our curriculum team, as well as workshops facilitated by professionals in the wider early childhood education sector. You’ll also benefit from our Curriculum Planning Support team’s on-site mentoring.

Teacher Registration Support:

Gaining your Early Childhood Teacher registration is a significant achievement so we make every effort to assist you with this process. Kindercare pays the cost of your provisional registration, full registration and registration renewal.
A Registration Supervisor supports permanent employees through our “Advice and Guidance Program”, working through the process of provisional, through to full registration, with you.
Support also includes providing teachers with resources to assist them with the planning and implementation of their day to day early education program - an essential aspect of teacher performance requirements for full registration.

Career Opportunities:

With childcare centres in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Hamilton, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your experience by working in different locations, with different teams, in centres of different sizes.
Having centres in four major regions also enables us to accommodate requests for staff transfers, whether they are for personal or professional reasons.
And, with a team of early childhood professionals working in an advisory capacity to the teams in the centres, staff have the option to apply for a management role at centre director level or other roles within the centre services team.
Our Support Office in Auckland is the central point for our support and administrative teams – including accounts, marketing and communication, centre services support, maintenance, support services and Cherry.bytes.
Then there’s Regional Offices in Wellington and Christchurch, also offering opportunities to link in with support functions to our teams in the centres.

Teacher Excellence Awards Program:

This program acknowledges and celebrates those early childhood teachers who consistently demonstrate a level of skill, knowledge, and true loving commitment to the children in their care.
These awards recognise those in our team who constantly perform their role to an outstanding level, providing leadership, creative opportunities and an innovative environment that supports each child to reach their full potential.
Staff nominate colleagues whom they feel excel in their role. Qualifying criteria are strict to ensure all nominations are well-substantiated, and only awarded to teachers who have excelled consistently throughout the year.

Staff Serendipities:

Working with young children is incredibly rewarding. However, like every profession, our early childhood teams in the centres, and in support/administrative roles, have their challenging days!
That’s why when we can, around the middle of the year, we choose to give our staff a gift to say “thank you” for their commitment and effort.
Our staff also receive a Christmas gift which conveys a special thank you for their contribution during the year and our Christmas message to each member of our team.

Our Childcare Journey

In 1972, a loving mother opened our first early childhood centre. Four decades on, we’re still family owned and the strength of those same family values, the warmth of familiarity and the meaningful personal connections are still distinctively at the heart of Kindercare. That’s the reason our centres feel like "home" to the children and families we love.
