What We Offer
Heart-centred care; time for your child; a culturally diverse, supportive environment; creative indoor and outdoor set-ups for each developmental stage; commitment to safety; a ‘Care and Play’ curriculum that’s responsive to your child’s individual needs, through their early years.
That’s why you’ll find our care and learning program effectively enables your little one to play and have fun, as they acquire the skills that are essential to lay the foundations they need to prepare them for formal learning (literacy and numeracy) at primary school.
Working in partnership with parents is essential because through strong connections, we’re able to support you, understand what you want for your child and provide care that cherishes your little one.
Our Parent Evenings and Parent Breakfasts during the year are an ideal opportunity for you to spend some time in the centre, chat to your child’s teacher and exchange information with us that will help us to provide the best care and education for your child.
Teachers plan innovatively and individually for children through our Excel Education program, enabling them to intentionally notice, recognise and respond to your child. When we notice what interests your child, teachers are able to recognise their unique needs and individual behaviour, and then respond in a personal way.
Through play, your child will be involved in a range of activities (appropriate for each developmental stage), to build on and improve skills including: reflexes, vision, hearing, sensory awareness, spatial awareness, direction, midline, patterns, memory and visual discrimination.
Did you know that when children are moving, the body is teaching the brain, which then lays down essential pathways for future learning? That’s why your child will benefit from our thoughtfully designed, secure outdoor spaces which provide freedom for play and movement, are physically challenging to promote healthy growth and development, and school readiness.
Our online portfolios, Educa, are a favourite with our families because it gives parents current information and updates about what your child is learning, special moments in their day, and allows families to provide timely feedback and input into their child’s life at Kindercare.
And, you’ll enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that our on-site Cook provides a delicious cooked, vegetarian midday meal daily, as well as serving a healthy morning and afternoon snack for your child – making it easy to foster healthy eating as a way of life.

In our warm “home away from home” Babies Room, you’ll find a nurturing team, dedicated to meeting the very special needs of these littlest ones, through consistent, respectful care.
In a relaxed, settled environment, your baby will be cherished, and responded to quickly which builds strong attachments and trust – so essential for your baby to feel safe in our care.
Because deep, restful sleep is essential for your infant, we’ve created a dedicated sleep environment, soothed by natural lighting and blinds so it’s a peaceful space where your baby can sleep soundly.
Keying in with you enables us to support your child by linking centre routines to home routines, as closely as possible.
At this young age, our focus is on providing a “Care and Play” curriculum, so your baby benefits from affectionate, gentle moments of care throughout the day, with learning and exploration woven into new experiences.
With freedom and space to move safely, our play curriculum enables your baby to investigate his/her world through tactile experiences, sensory exploration and soothing, unhurried interactions.
Your infant will be entrusted to qualified, experienced Teachers, who will provide familiar assurance and consistent care because they’ll take the time to get to know you and your baby.
Natural resources are abundant in this room, both indoors and outdoors. There’s lots of fun ways to develop gross motor skills in our secure playground for under 1yr olds which has been carefully designed around developmentally appropriate equipment as well as spaces for quiet play and discovery.
And when you’re not there to experience precious moments through the week, our individual Journals provide a valuable record and forum to share information between Kindercare and home and capture your child’s personal learning journey.
Energy, curiosity, growing independence, repetition, eagerness to learn – we understand toddlers!
That’s why, our team in the Toddlers room love working with this age group, and having the opportunity to implement a "Care and Play" curriculum in a flexible environment, that’s responsive to this stage of development.
Building on from the Babies room curriculum, your toddler will be involved in daily activities that support the development of his/her Foundation Skills – including spatial awareness, balance development and crossing the midline. This is essential for your child’s success in future formal schooling.
Teachers with a sense of fun ensure your child will receive individual, responsive care and focused attention. In this sensory-rich environment, including a dramatic play area, quiet book corner and play-area filled with natural resources, your toddler will have so many opportunities for language development, and to explore using his/her imagination.
At this age, interactive mat times and lots of space to move all help your child as they begin mastering self-help skills and their emerging need for independence.
And in a safe, spacious outdoor play area, active movement happens naturally, along with gross motor skill development.
Teachers take the time to notice what a child is interested in, recognise how to support their need and respond to this, all with a spirit of playfulness, children are able to learn because they feel safe and loved.
Toilet training can be a challenging time for any parent, that’s why we’re here to support you too, should you need it.
And you’ll find our on-line portfolios, Educa, are an extremely effective way to keep in touch and let you know about your child’s daily life, and journey, while they’re in our care.
In the Toddler’s room, as with every age group, your child will be treated with kindness. Connecting with your child, chatting to them, and building trust – it’s a priority, because relationships matter.
If you’re looking for an environment where your preschooler’s language development will be fostered, their self-care and self-help skills will be encouraged and they’ll enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor play-based learning opportunities, you’ll find this in our Preschool program.
Having fun is central to all curriculum areas, and ensuring they benefit your child’s growth and development. Activities include puppets, dress-ups, music and movement and literacy and numeracy skills.
From interactive mat times, to quiet areas for reading and one-on-one moments, your preschool child will be in an environment where their unique interests are noticed, there needs are recognised, and they are responded to promptly.
Movement is essential for your child to lay down Foundation Skills which will enable your preschooler to achieve greater success once they move on to school.
So activities like climbing, twisting & turning, swinging, and spinning are all weaved into your child’s play – especially outdoors where they have freedom and space to move in a safe environment.
Letterland is a phonics program that introduces the alphabet in a fun and interactive way and our shared reading initiative enables you to link home with your preschooler’s centre life and learning.
“You Can Do It” is a fun, innovative program that develops your child’s social and emotional competence. Children are introduced to special character “puppets”, who all teach your child a particular life skill – like Connie Confidence, Pete Persistence, Ricky Resilience, Gabby Get-Along and Oscar Organisation.
Small project groups not only benefit your child’s learning on topics of interest to them, and teach them skills such as consultation, negotiation and assessment, they also support the establishment of positive friendships, and nurture a love of learning at a young age.
A safe and exciting introduction to the digital world is possible through our Cherry.bytes program. Working on iPads, under constant supervision of our specialist Cherry.bytes teachers, your child will use these as another learning tool – opening up a multi-media, interactive world of discovery where preschoolers are encouraged to be “passionately curious”. This weekly session is often the highlight of the children’s week!
As we have in all our rooms, our online portfolios, Educa will keep you connected to your child’s life at Kindercare, and give you the opportunity to contribute as often as you wish. We welcome and value your input on your child’s journey.
There’s a whole world of fun, affectionate relationships and exciting learning waiting for your preschooler at Kindercare in Peachgrove Road.
Transition to School
Moving on to school is an exciting time as well as a time of change, sometimes accompanied by some apprehension. The better your child is prepared for this transition, the easier it is for them to settle into the primary school environment.
At Kindercare in Peachgrove Road, we offer a dedicated Transition to School program.
Integral to this curriculum is the ongoing focus on project work and enquiry-based learning, giving your child the opportunity to develop working theories that help them make sense of the material, social, natural and physical world.
There are also “small group times” – when teachers work with a few children to extend current project focusses and provide learning opportunities through hands-on, practical experiences.
In our Transition to School room, your child’s natural curiosity to investigate, ask questions and research will be encouraged and nurtured as well as encouraging independence and taking responsibility.
Just like our Preschool room, we continue with our Cherry.bytes program, “You Can Do It” (for social and emotional development), Letterland (early literacy program) and building on Foundation Skills.
Real life learning experiences are so important and exciting for children. That’s why at this age, we ensure that trips and visits into the community are part of the curriculum.
As part of our focus on preparing your child for school, we have “Lunchbox Day” on Fridays. This is a fun way to introduce your preschooler to packed lunches – how to open wrappers, manage food between morning tea and lunch break and be responsible for their meal. It’s great fun too!
You’ll enjoy the special opportunity to share one-on-one time with your child with our “Home Readers” – little books we send home with your child so they get used to doing a little reading at home with you. And they love sharing these with Whanau.
Building a strong bond with your preschooler – through focused time and individual attention - is our priority. It’s within affectionate relationships that teachers are able to weave in pre-mathematics, reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, all of which support your child’s growth and development and ensure they’re ready to say goodbye to their early childhood years and move on to school.
Because we recognise you are your child’s first teacher, our team are committed to building a relationship with you.
Through knowledge, trust and understanding we can appreciate what’s important to your family.
We welcome your contribution to your child’s learning and development because this builds meaningful connection between home life and centre life and nurtures a sense of belonging for your child, at Kindercare.
Our staff are passionate, skilled, experienced, and dedicated to cherishing your child and developing their full potential.
In a culture of kindness, with respectful interactions and gentle moments of care throughout the day, our team believe caring for your child is a privilege and work hard to ensure he/she feels settled and safe in our care.
