. That’s why the environments are calm, happy, unhurried
and uncluttered – and children are treasured.
Both indoors and outside, an ongoing daily focus for your child will be ensuring we are providing play-based
opportunities that involve activities to develop your child’s critical foundation skills
It’s essential that these foundations are laid in the early years, when your child’s developing and growing, so that he/she gains the benefit of the best chance of success with formal learning, when they start school.
An experienced on site Chef
plans and cooks delicious vegetarian meals daily, and serves up healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, to keep your child well-nourished throughout the day.
Linking in with the local community and businesses is important to support families and enables your child to benefit from real-life learning
experiences - like visits by the local Librarian or Fireman, who share their skills and profession with the children. It keeps learning alive for your child.
Initiatives to support your family, should you request them, include Triple P
(Parenting service), a Family Services Co-ordinator, and supporting local charities including World Vision, Operation Christmas Child and The Cancer Society
(Positive Parenting Programme) is a free service to Kindercare families, providing information and practical suggestions on a range of challenges that many parents face, like disobedience, bed wetting, temper tantrums, sleeping habits, and much more.
If you’d like to know a little more about what we offer your child at each stage of development, the following will be of interest to you:
Entering our Babies room, you’ll get that home-away-from-home
feeling, created by comfy arm chairs, cosy rugs and attractive scatter cushions – a place to relax
with your little one.
It’s in this calm and unhurried atmosphere that building a loving relationship
with your child is our focus, through respectful, responsive
Because restful sleep
is so important for your baby, we’ve created a quiet sleep area, where soft relaxing music in the background creates an environment that supports your child’s sleep routine.
A teacher will stay with your little one until they fall asleep, will check on them regularly to ensure they’re safe and sound, and be there for them on waking – just like home.
Bottle feeding times are opportunities for gentle moments of care
; to hold your baby, make eye-contact, smile and talk to them – all of which are so beneficial to building trust
and a loving relationship with your infant, and getting to know them.
As well as enjoying opportunities to participate in singing, dancing and reading stories during the day, your baby benefits from time outdoors daily, in a safe environment, because this provides him/her with space to move
, and movement is critical for every baby and young child’s brain development
Our Babies room accesses two outdoor play areas, one of which is shared with the older toddlers. In this playground, the activities, program and set-ups are planned to provide this age group, who are more mobile, with challenging opportunities for discovery
Having a dedicated area for our littlest babies ensures they have a safe environment, which is planned to meet the needs of this stage of development – a world rich in sensory and tactile
As you enter the Toddler’s room, you’ll discover an inviting environment
for your child to explore with so many opportunities to celebrate their marvellous toddler energy!
Soft furnishings, rugs and plants create homely spaces, with design elements that craft the room into smaller areas of discovery and learning
– like the family corner, construction, book corner, puzzles, science and other table activities.
Your busy toddler will be able to choose
where he/she wants to play, with options to be involved in group activities, individual imaginative play or quiet cosy corners
All indoor and outdoor activities are designed around your child’s interests and play – because that’s how your child learns best.
Water play, messy play, arts and crafts, active movement, sensory exploration
– these are just some of the fun-filled learning experiences that will engage and delight your toddler.
At an age when independence and autonomy are becoming important, your toddler will be encouraged to develop this by having access to his/her own basket and given the opportunity to get his/her hat, jacket etc., or special things for sleep time.
Toilet training is started when each child is ready – so we work in partnership with families for this.
Most of all, you’ll find that affectionate relationships
, cuddles, unhurried days and lots of variety ensure your toddler will be nurtured by Teachers who love working with this age group.
In this room, your child’s socialising
will continue to be nurtured. Often, this is when lovely friendships start forming, greater independence
is encouraged and individual interests and enquiry are supported.
At this stage of development, some children are toilet training, while others are catered for with nappy changes - it’s about knowing and understanding
what your child needs.
Interactive mat times
are really popular with Preschool 1 children who become very engaged in the activity, song, dance or interactive story.
Teachers take the time to observe your child so they’re able to foster their all-important foundation skills
. Your preschooler will grow and develop in an environment where learning and fun happen at the same time.
In this room, we introduce Letterland
– our early literacy program. This brings the alphabet to life with fun characters and related songs and games, as your child becomes familiar with letters and sounds. This introductory level of Letterland is preparing your child for their exciting transition to Preschool 2.
Whether it’s a mat time or free play time, your child will be encouraged to use their whole body, both indoors and outdoors. And there’s still a steady supply of cuddles!
Once familiar routines and self-help skills
are established, your child will be ready to transition to Preschool 2 – where the fun and learning continues.
Your child will receive a friendly greeting from teachers they know, and who are ready to support you and your child to settle into an inviting, relaxed learning environment.
As with all the Preschool rooms, Preschool 2 embraces the indoor/outdoor flow where play experiences are created around both groups of children and your child’s individual learning
Your child benefits from learning experiences offered at this stage of his/her development, because these are designed to encourage pre-literacy and numeracy
, as well as the on-going development of your preschooler’s foundation skills.
An interactive and fun program to support the development of your child’s social and emotional skills
, “You Can Do It
”, is introduced in this room.
Preschool 3 / Transition to School Room
When your child’s ready, they will move to the Transition to School
room. Here, he/she will become actively involved in:
- group project work;
- enquiry based learning;
- science experiments;
- researching topics;
- construction and deconstruction of their environment;
- pre-maths, reading and writing
If your child is well prepared for school, they benefit because the transition is smoother and easier - giving them the best start to their formal education years.
So while we’re having fun, encouraging your child’s natural curiosity
and learning through play, our program supports the development of routines, habits and skills to prepare them for their transition from the early childhood setting to primary school.
Mat times are slightly longer as your child has fun with brain gym
and foundation skills activities
. These help your preschooler develop concentration
and assist with learning how to make good decisions during their day.
Once a term, children and families visit the local primary school
to meet the new entrant teacher, see some of their old friends, play in the playground and have morning tea with the “school children”. This all helps them to become more familiar with this new environment and experience parts of the day, before they begin school themselves.
Your child will love our “Lunch Box Days
” – and they’ll benefit too because they’ll be learning about packed lunches, opening wrappers, spreading their food between morning tea and lunch etc.
” are books that are sent home with your child each week. There’s no expectation or pressure on your preschooler to be able to read independently at this age – this just creates an opportunity for you to enjoy some daily one-on-one time with your child, reading together
. It also prepares your preschooler for the concept of “homework” – small, but fun, activities to do at home.
Your child will continue their journey with our “You Can Do It
” program – supporting their social and emotional development through the use of puppet characters, stories and songs. Social emotional skills
, like persistence, resilience, confidence, are all essential to a child’s future success in life.
continues to be a part of the curriculum, to build on your child’s knowledge, at their own pace.
Across all 3 of our Preschool rooms, children are invited to participate in Cherry.bytes
- our technology based learning program for 3 ½ - 5 year olds. iPads provide an innovative
learning tool for your child to investigate, explore, discover and have fun with – it’s a real highlight of the week for children. We have a specialised Cherry.bytes teacher and classroom for this exciting initiative where children are encouraged to be “passionately curious
A culturally diverse
, friendly and passionate team will welcome you at our centre in Thomas Road.
Our staff have the language skills
to support children and families from a wide range of nationalities. And, if they don’t, they’re willing to try and learn your child’s language to help with settling in.
We value relationships
within the community, including those with local businesses, because we want to support families on their journey as they grow capable, independent young people.
My Commitment to You
I joined the Kindercare family in February 2011, after discovering that my personal values were closely aligned with Kindercare’s values
. As our mission statement says, “Children are a gift from God
”, I too believe that a child is a gift.
I value the time I spend with your child, listening to their stories, seeing them develop as they prepare for school, and offering hugs.
Because it’s not always possible for parents to care for their child at home, it’s a privilege for us to be able to support families by listening, sharing experiences
, and offering support
, if it’s requested.
You can feel comfortable
leaving your precious child safely in our hands, because here, they will be loved by the adults that care for and educate them.
