Kindercare's philosophy, as an employer, is that ‘Teachers Matter'. Your career advancement, experiencing a sense of reward in doing what you do successfully and being the best you can be, matters to us. The past 37 years have given us a greater understanding of what you need to be challenged, fulfilled and growing as an Early Childhood Educator. Now we're putting this into action and our staff are enjoying the benefits.
Your registration as an Early Childhood Teacher is an achievement! We acknowledge this and make every effort to assist you with this by paying for all provisional registrations, full registrations and renewal
of registrations.
In addition to this, we strive to support our permanently employed, provisionally registered teachers in achieving full registration. Our provisionally registered teachers are assigned a Registration Supervisor who visits them on a monthly basis, to oversee and support them on the Advice and Guidance Program. As part of Kindercare's support for these valued teachers, they also receive resources to assist them with their day to day program planning, implementation and in meeting teacher
performance requirements.
Professional development is an ongoing focus and priority at Kindercare. This is because we know that teachers are empowered to be the best they can be when they are gaining new skills, new knowledge and feel supported in their career development and advancement. Professional development includes workshops that are delivered by our Curriculum team as well as workshops facilitated by professionals in the wider early childhood sector. Kindercare also provides onsite mentoring through Curriculum Planning support senior teachers.
At Kindercare, we acknowledge that our teachers make our mission statement a reality; they are instrumental in ensuring each child reaches their full potential by providing outstanding early childhood care and education. And so for those teachers who consistently display excellence in their education and care of the children entrusted to them, we have a system to formally acknowledge and thank them for the pivotal role they play as Early Childhood Educators.
Our annual Teacher Excellence awards are gradually introduced throughout all Kindercare centres, as new regions come on board. It has been established to reward our teacher's skill, love and dedication to young children. All staff are given the opportunity to nominate colleagues that they feel excel in their profession and there are four categories which staff can choose to nominate under. Strict criteria and written submissions exist to substantiate nominations and to ensure that the Teacher Excellence Awards are truly for those teachers who have excelled.
Working with young children is very rewarding but it does present some challenging days! Because we are aware of how much our staff invest in making a difference in the lives of these little ones, we like to thank our team for their commitment. During the year, all our staff receive a gift to say "a big thank you" for all they do as well as little acknowledgements, throughout the year, within individual centres, to commend and thank staff for special effort and achievements. Our staff also receive a Christmas gift which conveys a special thank-you and Christmas wish to each member of the team for their contribution during the year.
With early childhood centres in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Hamilton and further expansion planned within New Zealand, we are able to offer our staff the opportunity to work in different locations, with different teams and gain broader experience. We are also in the position to be able to accommodate staff transfers, for family or professional reasons. And with a team of early childhood professionals who work in an advisory capacity to the teams in the centres, opportunity can arise to move into management at the Centre Director level and other roles within the Centre Services team. Kindercare can offer a wide range of career possibilities.
