Our curriculum is all about ensuring that young children reach their full potential through the outstanding care and education that we provide. We don't fit your child into our education program, we adjust our program to meet their needs. Through our care and education, children don't just learn, they have fun learning! Let us share with you some of Kindercare's defining features:
Kindercare's innovative and comprehensive Excel Education program is designed to ensure that children are responded to and supported in developing their full potential.

A unique feature of Kindercare's curriculum is the Cherry.bytes program for our 3½ - 5yr olds. Mobile technology labs visit most of our established Kindercare centres, providing children with the opportunity to be engaged with technology by working on age-appropriate, educationally designed software programs, under the guidance of specialist teachers.
For more information see our Cherry.bytes page.
Letterland is a multi-sensory way of teaching children to read and write. It is an imaginary land full of fun and interesting characters (letters of the alphabet) that teaches children phonetically, about the correct sounds and the correct letter formation while fostering a love of language and books. The program aims to teach our preschool children (aged 3 years and up) early emergent reading and writing skills.
Our early childhood centres have specially designed separate rooms and play areas for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Because we make the environment a priority, we invest in creative and well resourced indoor and outdoor environments. These provide invitations to play that reflect an understanding of young children's different energy levels and
range of interests.
Our Transition to School Program prepares the 4½yr olds for the move onwards to school. We make early literacy a priority and this includes a Home Reading Program which is the use of small take home books for parents to read with their children. There is also a focus on science and numeracy in which children are introduced to a range of basic science and mathematical concepts through discovery, play and enjoyment. The program also includes the creative arts including dance, music, drama and visual arts. Project work allows the children to pose questions, solve problems, develop social skills through working with others, learn how to plan and increase their awareness of the world around them. The School Connection includes visits to the new entrant classrooms to familiarise them with the school experience. Another fun part of the program is School Bag / Lunch Box days when we have a packed lunch for the children, at Kindercare, so they get used to eating this type of meal and gain the skills required to open packets/wrappers independently. Finally, we include transition to school reports which keep parents informed about their child's preparation for school.
At Kindercare, our Portfolios of Learning and Development are a major focus and provide invaluable feedback to parents / whanau as well as enjoyment for the children to look back on what they have done and achieved. The portfolios are a comprehensive compilation about your child's individual learning and development. The portfolios provide a visual link between what was planned for the individual child and what was achieved. It is also a priceless keepsake of your child's life before the age of 5yrs.
