Our Journey
In January 1972, with just 3 staff and 12 children, Glennie Oborn, our Managing Director, opened Milford Day Nursery on the site of what is now Kindercare's Milford Preschool centre.
Glennie's background in education and a commitment to providing parents with a service that would enable them to return to paid employment, with peace of mind that their child was in good hands, provided the motivation for the establishment of this first centre.
In response to ongoing requests from parents for additional centres, Kindercare has grown steadily. Today we are a national organisation with centres in 21 locations in Auckland, 11 locations in Christchurch, 2 centres in Wellington and 1 centre in Hamilton.
