Kia Ora,

Welcome to Kindercare Woolston, where we are committed to keeping children safe, loved, and learning. Family matters greatly to us and we value strong partnerships with our whānau, providing a supportive environment where they can seek help and parenting guidance. We believe in involving whānau as active participants in your child’s learning journey, and working together to develop their full potential.

We embrace the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and incorporate Te Ao Māori in our daily activities, promoting partnership, protection, and participation. Guided by Te Whāriki, our core values of Hauora, Manaakitanga, and Whanaungatanga, along with the Te Whare Tapa Whā model, we prioritise the holistic well-being of your child.

We focus on enhancing the mana of tamariki and whānau, recognising their strengths and cultural identities. My team and I are purposeful in providing a curriculum that embraces diverse perspectives and affirms the language, customs, values, and traditions represented in our community of learners. We empower children to develop social and emotional competencies, resilience, and self-control.

We invite you to visit us if you’re looking for childcare in your local area. Our team are excited to show you all the wonderful opportunities we offer at Kindercare Woolston and we look forward to welcoming you to experience the Kindercare difference!

Ngā manaakitanga,
Jaimee Thompson

Why Choose Our Centre

Simply put, it’s because we offer outstanding early childhood care and learning. But here are a few other great reasons:

  • We believe children learn best when they are included in decisions about what they want to learn.
  • In addition to keeping each child safe, loved and learning, we deeply value manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and hauora.
  • Our operational hours allow us to provide flexible options to suit your family’s needs, with full-time and part-time care.
  • Kai is included. We provide high-quality plant-based whole-food meals for tamariki—all cooked on-site and prepared with love.
  • We offer a generous leave policy because we understand the unpredictability of children’s absences.
  • We emphasise community connection with the aim of removing barriers to provide access to all children to learn and to be cared for.
  • Others choose us because of the warm, authentic and trusting connections between our team, whānau and the wider Woolston community.
  • We are proud of our second-mile service, working with a range of external agencies for families who need additional support.

About Our Care

Childcare at our centre is designed to meet whānau aspirations and the needs of each child, with age-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout their day.

Recognising that tamariki learn and grow holistically, we make connections between the key elements of holistic development: mind (hinengaro), body (tinana), emotions (whatumanawa), spirit (wairua), social (pāpori), and cultural (ahurea). Through a broad and rich curriculum, we enable children to grow across all dimensions, removing barriers and fostering acceptance, equity, and meaningful engagement.

Flowing seamlessly, our outdoor areas are designed for fun and to spark your child’s curiosity and learning, while our intentional and well-resourced indoor spaces offer a nurturing environment. We understand that families have different childcare needs, and we would love to discuss them with you. This enables us to provide a tailored approach to your child’s care, learning, and fees, to support their growth.

Since 2008, we have been a part of the community, and our centre is conveniently located for families in Woolston, Ferrymead, Hillsborough, and Opawa. We look forward to supporting you and your child on their journey with us through these incredible preschool years. So join us at Kindercare Woolston and watch your child thrive!
