  • A generous annual leave allowance

  • Healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning

Every child is different, and has different needs – which is why we ask whānau to supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies each day.

We’re here to talk through any questions you may have and share more information with you, to help you make the best decision for your child, and your whānau. So if you want to know more about our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability, don’t hesitate to let us know. We want to help.

What’s the first step?

We welcome you to either give us a call or come in and spend some time at our early childhood centre. We would love to meet you and your little one, show you around, and introduce you to our devoted Kaiako. We want to get to know you, and your child, really well - and we want to share with you what makes our centre such a special place for tamariki and their families and whānau.

Why choose our centre?

Our daycare centre opened in January 2020, committed to understanding the aspirations of whānau and to nurture your child with care and education that’s designed to meet their individual needs

You’ll find we work with you to make each day fun-filled, encourage your child’s innate curiosity for the world, and to foster their wellbeing, including the provision of healthy meals and snacks throughout the day.Kindercare has worked closely with Katie Harding from Nourished Beginnings to provide a whole foods-based menu plan to meet the specific dietary requirements of tamariki at each age and stage of development.

While centrally located in the middle of Auckland’s CBD, so we can serve families and whānau working in the inner city and surrounding areas, our childcare centre is tucked peacefully away – a haven for tamariki. We love the cultural diversity of our whānau, making it a priority to foster an environment that’s a home-away-from-home, where all cultures and values are respected.

Because of our convenient location and open-door policy, our parents often drop in to visit their child over their lunch break or have a fluffy at one of the many cafes in the area. Our partnership with you is something we value and nurture.

Our care and learning

Caring for tamariki between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, our childcare centre has four spacious preschool rooms, designed to foster creativity and independent choices for play. That’s because at Kindercare, we understand that tamariki learn through play and being able to think freely when they are exploring and having fun.

Tūī Room (preschool 1 room)

Here, our Kaiako will support your child in the development of their self-help skills and gently encourage their growing need for independence. Your preschooler will have the opportunity to try out and take part in new learning experiences that cater to their unique interests. Most importantly, our Kaiako will take the time to intentionally plan for your child’s care and learning, so we are responding to them individually.

Pūkeko Room (preschool 2 room) and Kakapo Room (preschool 3 room)

In both these rooms, our Kaiako will love and support your child by providing a range of intentionally planned, age-appropriate learning experiences that will encourage and foster your child's curiosity. Your child's individual interests will be observed, recognised and then incorporated into the day, through a range of fun and engaging learning experiences. Through the use of a project based approach in all our preschool rooms, tamariki have the opportunity to talk through, question and research what is going on around them.

Takahē Room (transition to school room)

At this important age, where your child will benefit from preparation for the next step – starting primary school - our experienced Kaiako work alongside your preschooler, implementing our Transition to School program. This is a project-based approach that encourages conversations, questions and involves your child in doing fun-filled research to assist and guide their understanding and knowledge of their world.

Activities in this room are set up based on play and the interests of the tamariki – which is why you’ll find they’re eager to learn, interested in helping, and keen to participate and share in discoveries because all of this equips them with essential skills and confidence for when they move on to school.

Home Readers: these are part of the Transition to School program. Each week, your child is encouraged to take a new book home. This not only introduces them to home readers which they’ll receive at school, but also encourages them to take responsibility for and care for items that do not belong to them.

We offer the following learning and development programs in our preschool centre:

You Can Do It: a unique and innovative program that encourages and supports the development of your child's social and emotional competence, by introducing your preschooler to special characters who each teach tamariki a particular life skill – like Pete Persistence, Ricky Resilience and Connie Confidence.

Letterland: a fun, phonics program that introduces tamariki to a different letter of the alphabet each week, and uses songs, letter characters and poems to help your child identify, learn and remember the sound of each letter.

Sports for tots: once a week, your child can join in this ‘parent paid’ active session. These can be booked and paid for online, and all preschool tamariki are invited to sign up, if you would like your child to participate.

Our world of outdoor play

At our childcare centre, we’re passionate about getting tamariki outside and active, because we understand the value of children's physical activity and how it directly links to brain development and their path to future learning. As part of our intentional planning for your child, we include a range of different physical activities both inside and outdoors, to grow your child's core strength.

With our creatively designed playground, your preschooler will have the opportunity to use a wide range of play equipment to develop these core strength areas within their bodies.

A little about our team

My team and I are passionate about Kindercare’s core values of Safe, Loved and Learning. We believe in fostering each child’s individual development and learning through respectful, loving interactions.

We have a wonderfully diverse and dedicated team of Kaiako here, who each bring a unique set of gifts and skills. This, along with their heart for tamariki, makes them the amazing Kaiako that they are.

Individually, you’ll discover they each have a clear passion for teaching, and caring for young tamariki and this shows daily in their interactions. They bring energy and fun to the learning experiences that they plan daily, within our safe and loving childcare environment. You’ll find that this is a special place – where each child’s physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well-being is valued and nurtured.

You’ll be invited to our parent evenings which are held throughout the year - to update you about your child's progress and development. Our team are dedicated to building a strong partnership with you, so we can work with you to develop your child’s full potential.

We also love celebrations! So throughout the year, we’ll make the most of those special moments in life and we welcome tamariki, families and whānau to come in and share these with us. Our annual Silo Park whānau picnic is a time to relax and meet other Kindercare families.

You’re invited…

We want you to know how much we look forward to meeting you and your child. So feel free to come in at any time…we’re here to listen and find out more about your individual needs.

Love

Sonia
