Kia Ora,

At Kindercare Fendalton, we value whanaungatanga—building strong, reciprocal relationships between Kaiako, tamariki and whānau. We believe that everyone should feel safe, secure, and connected, with a sense of mana whenua and a genuine bond to our community.

Providing best child outcomes, working in partnership with parents, is at the heart of what we do. We welcome, value and honour your contribution, celebrating the unique cultural identities that make us who we are as a wider community. We believe children develop best when their culture, knowledge and identity are affirmed. So our care and learning is focused on identity, as well as wellbeing, emotional growth and resilience.

When you walk through our doors, we’re confident you’ll feel the same calm and caring environment that we all experience daily. It is a place that permeates with love and laughter, where every child is treasured and celebrated for their remarkable individuality.

My team and I are keen to get to know you and your child, so come on in and meet us if you’re looking for childcare in the area. We can’t wait to embark on this exciting journey together, and support you through these formative years in your child’s life.

Arohanui,
Louise Gallagher
Acting Centre Director

Why Choose Our Centre

Simply put, it’s because we offer outstanding early childhood care and learning. But here are a few other great reasons:

  • Our curriculum, care and learning are mindfully designed with the natural resources around us, based on our location.
  • In addition to keeping each child safe, loved and learning, we deeply value respect, tuakana-teina relationships, manaakitanga, and fun!
  • Our operational hours allow us to provide flexible options to suit your family’s needs, with full-time and part-time care.
  • Kai is included. We provide high-quality plant-based whole-food meals for tamariki—all cooked on-site and prepared with love.
  • We offer a generous leave policy because we understand the unpredictability of children’s absences.
  • With Putaringamotu (Dean’s Bush) just around the corner, we often have walking trips there because we want tamariki to develop a love for our natural environment, as part of understanding the significance of this place to our community and how to be good stewards of our environment.

About Our Care

Step inside our charming character house, that was transformed into a warm and loving daycare in 2004. Childcare at our centre is designed to meet whānau aspirations and the needs of each child, with age-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout their day.

We have a dedicated team of Kaiako—many of whom are fully qualified and registered—who are here to guide and nurture your your child. Our outdoor areas are established with trees and greenery, creating invitations for play with backyard-like vibes. Here, your child will have plenty of room to explore and make natural discoveries allowing nature to spark their curiosity and imagination.

At Kindercare Fendalton, we celebrate the uniqueness of each child and aim to prepare them for the next stage in their learning journey. Our tailored Pathways to School and Kura program ensures that they leave our centre feeling confident and well-prepared for school.

We incorporate monthly learning focuses that reflect the needs and interests of our children. Themes such as sustainability, and care for our natural world and resources are woven into our activities, celebrating the people, places, and things right here in our town.

Our Fendalton daycare centre is conveniently located for families in Fendalton, Bryndwr, Burnside, Strowan, Riccarton, and Merivale.

We understand that families have different childcare needs, and we would love to discuss them with you. This enables us to provide a tailored approach to your child’s care, learning and fees, to support their growth. Join our vibrant community at Kindercare Fendalton, where children can learn, flourish and thrive in a place that feels like home. We can’t wait to welcome you and your whānau when you visit!
