What’s the first step?

If you’re looking for safe, loving care and exceptional learning, we know you’ll find it at our daycare centre. From the moment you and your child walk through our doors and meet our friendly, caring teamyou’ll know we will be there to support you.

Call us or pop in and let us show you around at your pace, happy to answer any questions you may have. And while your child is here, they’re welcome to play and explore. It’s just one of the ways we ensure they’ll feel comfortable and ‘at home’ in our centre.

Then, once you’ve decided to enrol, we encourage you to plan some ‘settling in’ visits. These are a great way for you to get to know our Kaiako, Centre Director and Centre Administrator as well as the rest of the team. They’re also a good opportunity for your child to acquaint themselves with our environment and become familiar with the new faces. For our team, we use these visits to get to know more about you, and your child – so important for us to start building a supportive, trusting relationship with you. This will continue to grow and deepen as your child spends time in our care.

Why choose our centre?

Since opening in 2017, our childcare centre has become a trusted name in our local community. We are privileged to care for babies, toddlers and preschool tamariki and can assure parents that we will cherish your child and provide care and learning opportunities to meet your child’s needs, at each age and stage of development. We’re here to ‘Serve with Love’.

Home is where the heart is, and that’s why we work with you to align our service to link home life with centre life. This is one way of ensuring your child will feel relaxed, welcomed and keen to explore our safe, loving learning environments. They’re everything you’d want for your little one - clean, spacious and flowing into their own outdoor play areas. The perfect setting for your child to participate in fun-filled learning that fosters their essential foundation skills

It is the support we offer whānau, the strong relationships, our open, regular communication and our central, convenient location (close to the CBD and several good primary schools) that make us the natural choice for early childhood care and education in Palmerston North.

Our care and learning

At our early childhood centre, it’s your child’s strengths and interests that guide how we care for and educate them, within ideal Kaiako:child ratios. And it’s all about having fun! We planning and intention, our rooms and outdoor play areas and our learning through play curriculum nurtures each child’s potential, starting with the essential foundations which will set them up for success at school, and through their lives.

Good nutrition in these early years, especially for busy days of play, are essential for your child’s healthy growth and development. This is why we offer a healthy midday vegetarian meal, as well as morning and afternoon snacks, that are based on the Nourished Beginnings program. A paediatric nutritionist has worked with our team to formulate meals and snacks, based on whole foods, so your child will enjoy delicious wholesome kai, without artificial additives, processed ingredients and high fat/sugar content. This gives our tamariki the energy and nourishment they need to play, learn, and grow.

Kiwi Room (babies room)

We want to provide your treasured infant with loving, respectful care, settled days and fun-filled exploration. So, we partner with you, to get to know your little one as this enables our devoted Kaiako to respond to their cues and personalise their care moments and routines – like nappy change time, and putting them down for a sleep. Like you, we want to ensure your baby feels secure, loved and cherished.

Our Kaiako know through the external professional development they receive that movement is critical, because the body teaches the brain to think. And that’s why we provide your baby with plenty of opportunities to move, explore and make tactile discoveries in our safe, calm environment. Our learning is planned around your child’s stage of development, and what we have observed to be of interest to them.  And while you may not be with them during the day, you’ll share their precious milestones through their online portfolio (Educa) and through their daily Journal. We keep in touch with you, each step of the way.

Tūī Room (toddlers room)

We offer a safe, loving room for your toddler because we know care and learning begins with supportive relationships between your child, your whānau and our team. When trusting, genuine and respectful connections are established, tamariki feel secure and ready to explore their environment and express themselves. This is essential during toddlerhood, as we nurture your child’s emerging curiosity, bravery, ‘safe’ risk-taking (emotional and physical), independence and confidence.

We also understand that your active ‘explorer needs energetic Kaiako to support their growth and development. Our passionate, consistent team have the energy, humour and creative ideas needed to help your toddler become a capable, confident lifelong learner. Gentle guidance and support from them, will help your child develop the social and emotional skills and competence to become an independent problem-solver, a caring friend, and someone who respects and cares about others, and their environment.

Takahē Room (preschool and transition to school room)

As we continue to love and nurture your preschooler, we recognise their eagerness to learn and immerse themselves in new, exciting experiences. So this room is set up with resources and a learning program to continue developing your child’s foundation skills, offering them a wide range of choice for their play and learning.

Ensuring we continue to provide a safe, familiar environment, with supportive, fun-loving relationships is essential so they are settled and have a sense of belonging. And it is the love, care and responsive attention to your child, from our dedicated Kaiako, that will foster your preschoolers ongoing care and education.

These rooms place a strong emphasis on the development of your child’s social and emotional competencies, as these play such an important role in your child’s schooling years, and future lives. That’s why our fun-filled ‘You Can Do It’ program is so valuable, because through fun-filled activities, it helps your child build confidence, persistence, resilience, organisation and the ability to get along with others

We also prepare your child for their next big step into primary school through our Transition to School program. We’d love to chat to you about this, so you can find out more about how our exceptional program will benefit your preschooler.

Our world of outdoor play

Your child’s active movement is essential to their physical, social and intellectual growth. That’s why our rooms are designed to offer a relaxed indoor/outdoor flow of play and discovery – encouraging your child to explore and take safe risks as they learn. Our playground equipment is creatively set up and especially chosen to support the needs and capabilities of tamariki at each age and stage of development.
