Transition to School
Like you, we want the best for your child, which is why we won’t compromise on safe, supportive, care and education. We want to ensure your whānau receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee, which includes:
- a generous annual leave allowance
- a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at the centre daily – so you won’t need to pack kai
- healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
- our Positive Parenting program – offering tips, advice and support for every family
Because every child has different needs, we ask that you supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.
Want to learn more about our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability? No problem … please let us know. We’re happy to talk through your questions and provide whatever information you may need because we want to ensure you make the best decision for your child and your whānau.
What’s the first step?
We understand just how much your child’s early years matter, so you’re more than welcome to pop in for a visit. We’ll introduce you to our friendly team, and show you around our safe, loving care and learning environment. And because we’re here to support your family’s needs, we’d love to hear all about your child and the aspirations you have for them.
Why choose our centre?
Providing safe, loving care and learning since 2012, our daycare is designed to care for your child from infancy until they are ready for primary school. Your child will be cared for alongside tamariki of a similar age and stage of development, in creatively designed play and learning areas – both indoors and outside. Each environment is intentionally planned to provide the nurturing care, fun-filled learning and social opportunities best suited to meet your child’s individual needs.
Inspiring awe and encouraging curiosity and a life-long love of learning is at the heart of what we do. And our loving support doesn’t end there. While embracing your little one’s unique needs, our multicultural centre gives your whānau a heartfelt sense of belonging by involving you not only in your child’s learning and development, but also our special celebrations throughout the year. These include birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Chinese New Year, and Diwali.
Our care and learning
At our early childhood centre, our passionate, professional Kaiako are devoted to providing exceptional care and education for your child – care that you want for your child, that’s respectful, with plenty of fun-filled opportunities to help them reach their full potential. And that’s what you’ll discover in each of our five rooms. Each one is specially designed for your child’s age and stage of development, with a care programme and learning activities that are tailored to their interests and needs.
Kiwi Room (babies room)
In our Kiwi Room, we believe your baby should receive the safe, loving care you want for them, nurtured in an environment that feels like home.
For this reason, building strong, supportive relationships with you and your infant is the foundation of our commitment. We work with you to provide the smoothest possible transition into our care, by integrating your baby’s home routine as closely as possible to centre life. This, along with dedicated one-on-one time and cuddles, will give your little one the sense of security they need to settle, and explore, both indoors and out.
Your baby will be using their five senses and their bodies to make discoveries, through natural learning resources. And they’ll enjoy group activities, like mat time where they’ll have the opportunity to interact with others in their stage of development, while listening to books and singing songs.
And you’ll be with us every step of the way, since we document your infant’s journey in a journal - just for you.
Tūī Room (toddlers room)
We understand your toddler is filled with energy and an eagerness to learn, which is why we’ve designed a safe, fun-filled environment with plenty of room to explore, discover and grow. Like your little one, we’re constantly on the move. So they’ll be keeping busy while developing skills through play-based activities they’ll love. These include construction, dramatic play, and active play, on our playground that is designed around your child’s interests at this stage of development., Our mat times provide social opportunities for your toddler to sing, dance and read stories with their Kaiako and little friends. And when they’re ready to explore toilet-training, we’re here to lovingly guide them through that, too.
Your little one will also need some quiet spots to enjoy a cuddle, perhaps a storybook and conversations to help their emerging oral language development.
Pūkeko and Takahē Rooms (preschool rooms)
When your little one becomes a big preschooler, we understand how important it is to nurture their curiosity, social/emotional skills, and extend their growing social, physical and cognitive competencies.
This is what we do in our relaxed, well-resourced Pūkeko and Takahē rooms - and we do it through interest-based activities your child will love. Group time, for example, allows them to learn through fun-filled experiences ranging from art and baking to science experiments. And we integrate conversations and activities through the day to develop social and emotional skills while learning: our mat times foster opportunities to share ideas with their little friends, and participate in conversations around a room topic. This is also an exciting time in which we introduce LetterLand that explored the alphabet, while continuing to build social and emotional competencies through our “You Can Do It” programme.
Kōtuku Room (transition to school room)
When the next step in your child’s care and learning journey is primary school, we believe in giving them the smoothest possible transition, In this room, we prepare your child for school by continuing to build on their foundational skills through fun-filled learning programs. These are designed to further your child’s knowledge of the alphabet, and early literacy, safely using digital technology as another tool to extend their learning and continue to develop their social/emotional competencies. The benefit of our real-life learning experiences is that they familiarise your child with the primary school setting. These include our ‘lunch box days’, which guide them through making and managing their own packed lunch. And, while learning skills like opening wrappers independently, we’re also having conversations with them about making healthy meal choices.
All of this helps to set your child up for a successful transition into primary school.
Our world of outdoor play
Because we know that movement is critical for your child’s intellectual, social and physical development we take the time to plan and create exciting, challenging and safe, outdoor spaces where tamariki can have fun exploring and making discoveries through their imaginative and physical. These areas not only support your little one’s growth and learning, but also their transition into the next age group environment. Each outdoor play area is set up to meet the needs of the children at that age and stage of development, as well as prepare them for the move to the next room.
