Inspire Me

Inspire Me – igniting curiosity

Play, imagination and confidence in a positive, creative environment – this is what exceptional early childhood learning looks like. By prioritising playfulness, enquiry and experimentation, we build a love of learning to set tamariki on a pathway to success in school and in life.

Guided by Te Whariki, New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum, Inspire Me is designed to build the foundations of 21st-century learning skills: creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking. Inspire Me foundations cover:

Kaiako are the Key Resource

At Kindercare, Kaiako make moments matter with authentic and responsive interactions, by intentionally designing and delivering our curriculum. They value and appreciate your child’s contribution to their own journey and ensure learning reflects authentic whanaungatanga (relationships).

The Environment is the First Teacher

In thoughtfully designed, beautiful spaces, our Kaiako create invitations to play – spaces and experiences that provoke and extend children’s play and creativity. The spaces themselves are a source of creativity – children reimagine, rearrange and redesign their environment throughout their day.

Literacy Links

At every opportunity, language and literacy are introduced through play: movement, roleplay, story-telling, waiata and rhymes. Letterland Early Years, specifically for 3–5-year-old children is a unique phonemic approach, and is play-based to create an imaginary place where letters come to life! The program forms part of children’s language and literacy progressions needed for formal learning at school and kura. Literacy Home Links also helps your whānau share the love of reading together.

Real Life Learning

Our centres are built around the natural world. This enables your child to connect with and learn to be kaitiaki (stewards) of Papatūānuku (Mother Nature). Regular excursions in the community for our preschool-aged children provide hands-on opportunities to bring learning into the real world. Our under-three-year-olds connect with community members invited into our centres.

STEAM

Science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) are integral to many of our learning experiences. By incorporating these disciplines early on, we foster wonder and curiosity, encouraging tamariki to explore the world around them. STEAM not only nurtures creativity and imaginative thinking, it also develops problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Digital Technology Integration

At Kindercare, our 3-5-year-olds use technologies as tools to create, not just consume digital content. This intentional approach makes access to digital technology fun, hands-on, purposeful and safe.
