Babies and Toddlers
Our care and learning
At Kindercare Auckland CBD, we customise our care and learning for your little one from the start, through our Excel Education program. We take the time to recognise their individual interests, needs and strengths, then create a personalised care and learning plan. From here, your child will enjoy taking part in a range of carefully selected play-based activities that speak to their developmental stage. Through these, they’ll have the opportunity to develop their reflexes; vision and hearing; sensory and spatial awareness; direction; midline; recognition of pattern; and memory. All of this will set your child up for success in school and beyond.
And we’ll always keep you up to speed on your child’s progress and everything happening at our eventful centre, through our Educa online portfolios.
We also regularly bring you and our team together to welcome new families and enjoy an unhurried catchup with our educators. Such events include picnics at Silo Park; Father’s and Mother’s Day celebrations; parent evenings and our annual Christmas parties.
Finally, we pride ourselves on celebrating the rich diversity of all our centre families. So you’ll definitely want to pencil Kindercare in for Matariki, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Easter and Christmas celebrations.
Kiwi and Ruru Rooms (Babies Rooms)
We believe babies should always feel safe, loved and respected - with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. And that’s what our Babies Rooms are all about. Our devoted educators will provide nurturing, immediate care for your little one within a calm and settled environment. They’ll also involve them in fun-filled activities shaped around their developmental needs, thanks to our ‘Care and Play’ curriculum. Given the space and freedom to explore safely, your baby will receive various sensory-rich learning experiences as they discover their world at their own pace. And you’ll be with us, every little step of the way: our open-door policy allows you to visit your infant any time of day for a cuddle, a feed, or to check in if they’ve been unwell. Moreover, we document your child’s personal journey and progress each day through their own journal and online portfolio.
Kea and Tūī Rooms (Toddlers Rooms)
Your toddler’s curiosity and developmental needs are growing at the speed of light - and if anyone can keep up, it’s the devoted educators of our Toddlers Rooms. Here, we foster even more joy and discovery in your toddler’s learning journey through our ‘Care and Play’ curriculum. This allows your child to safely enjoy developing foundational skills indoors and out. They’ll do this through active explorations, music and movement, and other sensory-rich learning experiences. And by fostering strong, trusting relationships with you and your toddler, we ensure they receive the best loving care and learning for their needs.
Our world of outdoor play
Movement is at the very heart of your child’s intellectual, social and physical development. For this reason, we’re proud to offer safe, expansive outdoor playgrounds where your child can play, explore, discover and make friends through physical activity. All of this, while growing as confident, capable individuals.
Our care and learning
Caring for tamariki between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, our childcare centre has four spacious preschool rooms, designed to foster creativity and independent choices for play. That’s because at Kindercare, we understand that tamariki learn through play and being able to think freely when they are exploring and having fun.
Tūī Room (preschool 1 room)
Here, our Kaiako will support your child in the development of their self-help skills and gently encourage their growing need for independence. Your preschooler will have the opportunity to try out and take part in new learning experiences that cater to their unique interests. Most importantly, our Kaiako will take the time to intentionally plan for your child’s care and learning, so we are responding to them individually.
Pūkeko Room (preschool 2 room)and Kakapo Room (preschool 3 room)
In both these rooms, our Kaiako will love and support your child by providing a range of intentionally planned, age-appropriate learning experiences that will encourage and foster your child's curiosity. Your child's individual interests will be observed, recognised and then incorporated into the day, through a range of fun and engaging learning experiences. Through the use of a project based approach in all our preschool rooms, tamariki have the opportunity to talk through, question and research what is going on around them.
Takahē Room (transition to school room)
At this important age, where your child will benefit from preparation for the next step – starting primary school - our experienced Kaiako work alongside your preschooler, implementing our Transition to School program. This is a project-based approach that encourages conversations, questions and involves your child in doing fun-filled research to assist and guide their understanding and knowledge of their world.
Activities in this room are set up based on play and the interests of the tamariki – which is why you’ll find they’re eager to learn, interested in helping, and keen to participate and share in discoveries because all of this equips them with essential skills and confidence for when they move on to school.
Home Readers: these are part of the Transition to School program. Each week, your child is encouraged to take a new book home. This not only introduces them to home readers which they’ll receive at school, but also encourages them to take responsibility for and care for items that do not belong to them.
We offer the following learning and development programs in our preschool centre:
You Can Do It: a unique and innovative program that encourages and supports the development of your child's social and emotional competence, by introducing your preschooler to special characters who each teach tamariki a particular life skill – like Pete Persistence, Ricky Resilience and Connie Confidence.
Letterland: a fun, phonics program that introduces tamariki to a different letter of the alphabet each week, and uses songs, letter characters and poems to help your child identify, learn and remember the sound of each letter.
Sports4Tots: We incorporate active movement into your child’s day, at each stage of their development, because we recognise that it is critical for brain development. To further support this, at our centre we offer Sports4Tots— a parent paid activity. If you choose to enroll your child for this, they will participate in a weekly fun-filled session at our centre, during school term times. These can be booked and paid for online, and all preschool tamariki are invited to sign up, if you would like your child to participate. As Sports4Tots is for preschool age children, your little one will need to be between 2 and 5 years old. We know they’ll love learning fundamental sports skills, coordination, balance, and the value of play, all in a positive team environment. For more information, go to: www.Sports4tots.co.nz
Our world of outdoor play
At our childcare centre, we’re passionate about getting tamariki outside and active, because we understand the value of children's physical activity and how it directly links to brain development and their path to future learning. As part of our intentional planning for your child, we include a range of different physical activities both inside and outdoors, to grow your child's core strength.
With our creatively designed playground, your preschooler will have the opportunity to use a wide range of play equipment to develop these core strength areas within their bodies.
A little about our team
We have a wonderfully diverse and dedicated team of Kaiako here, who each bring a unique set of gifts and skills. This, along with their heart for tamariki, makes them the amazing Kaiako that they are.
Individually, you’ll discover they each have a clear passion for teaching, and caring for young tamariki and this shows daily in their interactions. They bring energy and fun to the learning experiences that they plan daily, within our safe and loving childcare environment.
Our team also believes in maintaining strong, meaningful relationships with you, too. Because together, we can help your child reach their full potential. You’ll be invited to our parent evenings which are held throughout the year - to update you about your child's progress and development. Our team are dedicated to building a strong partnership with you, so we can work with you to develop your child’s full potential.
We also love celebrations! So throughout the year, we’ll make the most of those special moments in life and we welcome tamariki, families and whānau to come in and share these with us. Our annual Silo Park whānau picnic is a time to relax and meet other Kindercare families.
When we say we’re here for you at Kindercare Auckland CBD, we truly mean it: from the first day you carry your little one through our doors, to the day they leave on their own two feet, for school.
Our open-door policy is our way of saying ‘you matter’ – and that’s why we’ll always make time for you at Kindercare – Auckland CBD.
Parents and families are warmly welcomed to pop in at any time during the day to visit us, have a look around, and get a feel for our lovely centre. You’ll have the opportunity to meet some of our wonderful teaching teams, plus see our rooms, resources and spacious outdoor areas.
This also gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have, and gain additional information.
We have a very special place here in Auckland’s CBD, and we look forward to showing you around on a visit.
