Transition to School
We don’t compromise on safe, supportive, care and education because like you, we want the best for your child. Our team works hard to ensure your family receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee, which includes:
- a generous annual leave allowance
- a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at the centre daily – so you won’t need to packkai
- healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
- our Positive Parenting program – offering tips, advice and support for every family
Knowing that every child has different needs, whānau are asked to supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.
To help you make the best decision for your child and your whānau, our team are happy to talk through any questions, or provide whatever information you may need. So, if you would like to learn more about our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability, please let us know.
What’s the first step?
You may want to call us to arrange a visit, or just pop in when it’s convenient for you. We’d love to meet you and find out more about your child, and your whānau. We recommend at least three transition visits to our daycare, prior to the start of your child’s enrolment to give your little one time to become a little more familiar with Kindercare. It’s our way of getting to know them, and you, so we can provide the best care and learning for your child’s individual needs.
Why choose our centre?
Located on a hilltop site with views across East Auckland, our peaceful, established childcare centre provides the perfect setting for your child to learn, grow and thrive in. Our beautiful outdoor play spaces are an extension of this, with lush trees, a well-shaded garden and open areas where your little one can explore and have fun with their friends. The playgrounds flow into our spacious rooms, with lots of natural light and a view of the garden. Families love our generous off-street parking, making pick-up and drop-off so convenient.
Since 2007, our early childhood centre has been providing safe, loving care and learning for tamariki from birth until they’re ready to go to school. At each stage of development, our environments are intentionally planned to provide the nurturing care, creative learning and social opportunities that support your child in reaching their full potential. All our rooms have air conditioning, ensuring we’re able to maintain a comfortable, healthy temperature for your child every day.
Our care and learning
At our daycare centre, we understand whānau play an important role in your child’s care and education. And that’s why we’re committed to maintaining a strong partnership with you, throughout your little one’s time in our safe, loving care.
We encourage you to spend time at Kindercare, whether it’s playing alongside your child or contributing to our fun-filled curriculum with activities like baking with the tamariki, playing an instrument, or talking about life in our community.
We also believe in the importance of a regular korero with you – helping us to learn about the aspirations you have for your child. We’d love to discuss how we can meet these, while extending their unique strengths and interests.
And when it comes to centre life, we encourage you to attend various parent networking opportunities like morning teas, coffee groups and parent evenings at our centre. You’ll also be welcomed at celebrations like ‘Graduation Days’ and Matariki dinner, along with special events at Christmas, Easter, Chinese New Year and Diwali. It’s our way of creating a sense of belonging for you and your child, and enriching your little one’s understanding of different cultures.
Kiwi Room (babies room)
We believe every baby should be nurtured through safe, loving care and plenty of sensory-filled opportunities to learn and grow. So we’ve specifically designed this room to meet your infant’s age and stage of development. You’ll love the beautiful open spaces with outdoor decks, which allow your baby to safely explore and learn through tactile experiences, in all kinds of weather! Outdoors, our littlest ones have their own sandpit and lots of room for ‘firsts’ like crawling, running, kicking balls and riding bikes.
And to ensure your baby has the benefit of a good sleep during the day, when needed, we offer a quiet, separate, temperature-controlled sleep room. Our nurturing team will be there when your little one wakes up, to gently welcome them back into the room. We want to ensure your baby feels cherished in our care.
Tūī Room (toddlers room)
Welcome to the wonderful, busy world for toddlers! In this room, it’s all about loving interactions, responsive attention and set-ups that support learning and development. Our dedicated Kaiako create a safe, well-designed and flexible space for toddlers, to meet their needs at this age and stage of development. Play-based activities throughout the day continue to build your child’s foundation skills. And because this room is between the babies and preschool rooms, your child will also have the opportunity to build positive relationships with other Kaiako and tamariki in our centre. This supports your child’s sense of belonging at the centre and encourages social interaction and settled transitions between rooms when the time comes for this to happen.
Pūkeko Room (preschool room)
Continuing to nurture your preschooler, and build their foundation skills is an ongoing focus in this room. And of course…it’s still all about having fun! Learning through play and the joy of discovery, your child will have the opportunity to develop their cognitive, social and emotional skills through activities that encourage their natural creativity and strengths both in groups, and individually. In our spacious playground, your little one will enjoy some physical challenges and active movement playing in our fort and huts, spending time, if they choose, in the large sandpit, navigating the obstacle course, swinging from the monkey bars, and even mastering a flying fox.
Takahē Room (transition to school)
Taking that next step into primary school can be a big change for tamariki and whānau. We understand – which is why we offer a dedicated Transition to School room – giving your preschooler great preparation to assist a smoother transition into formal learning. In our safe, settled space, your child will be lovingly guided through fun-filled activities that help them develop the skills they need for school. Our Kaiako will take the time to work with your child, at their pace, and guiding them as they make choices, discoveries and learning through their play.
Our world of outdoor play
Because children are learning, and their brain is growing through active movement, time outside is so important to support your child’s intellectual, social and physical development. We offer safe, outdoor play spaces for your child to make discoveries, have fun with their friends, and learn through physical activity. We have separate outdoor play areas for different stages of development.
A little about our team
At our early childhood centre, every day begins and ends with loving care and education. Suzanne and her dedicated team are passionate about what they do. Our Kaiako include fully qualified through to those completing their early childhood qualification.
We also acknowledge the pivotal role of our devoted Centre Administrator, who assists our team and whānau, so they can focus on providing the best care and learning for your child, and partner with parents. Another important person on our team is our full time Cook, who provides the nourishing and delicious vegetarian midday meal as well as morning and afternoon snacks each day.
Whānau matter to us, at Kindercare, and it is our hope that our service and partnership makes a difference for you during these early years.
You’re warmly welcomed to pop in for a visit, to spend some time in our room with your child, and to chat with our Kaiako, prior to making a decision about enrolling.
We really do appreciate how significant this decision is for your whānau, because there is nothing more important than the trust in knowing you’ve chosen the best environment for the care and education of your child.
