Transition to School
Our team works hard to ensure your whānau receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee because like you, we want the best for your child. So we don’t compromise on outstanding care and education, which includes:
- a generous annual leave allowance
- a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at thecentredaily – so you won’t need to pack kai
- healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
- our Positive Parenting program – offering tips, advice and support for every family
And because we know that all tamariki have different needs, we ask that you supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.
Need to know more about our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability? Just let us know. We’re happy to talk through any questions and provide whatever information you may need, to help you make the best decision for your child and your whānau.
What’s the first step?
At our early childhood centre, your child and whānau are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’d love to invite you to take that first step and contact us – because that’s all it will take to discover a truly loving and caring environment for your child’s early years.
On enrolment, we’ll ask you to tell us all about your whānau - your cultural background and heritage; your values; and of course, your hopes and aspirations for your child. It’s our way of starting a memorable journey with you, and understanding from the beginning, how we can help your child reach their full potential.
Why choose our centre?
In 1987, we opened our childcare centre – designed and crafted to nurture and educate babies, toddlers and preschoolers, until they are ready to leave us and move on to primary school. Since then, we’ve been taking care of tamariki in settled indoor environments, and exciting outdoor play spaces through our creative curriculum and range of opportunities for tamariki to spend time alongside others at a similar age and stage of development. Our environments are set up intentionally, so that our Kaiako can plan for and meet your child’s individual needs.
You’ll have peace of mind that in our lovely converted, 100 year old villa, your little one will be safe, loved and learning.
Our care and learning
At our daycare, we understand care and nurturing comes first, and learning happens through play. And, at each age and stage of development, you’re encouraged to get involved in your child’s learning and developmental journey. We keep you up to date about what’s happening with centre life and your child’s own day, through Educa, our online portfolio and parent message board for updates. This ensures you’re up to speed on your child’s growth and development and centre information. We encourage your input or feedback at any time. It’s our way of partnering with you to provide the best care and education for your child.
By fostering strong connections with our Three Kings community, your little one will benefit from real-life learning experiences. These include visits to the local library as well as the surrounding primary schools – providing valuable opportunities for your child to become more familiar with future educational environment, particularly as they approach school age. Our regular trips to rest homes near the centre are another opportunity for tamariki to learn respect for elders and interact with a different generation.
And when it comes to special events and celebrations, we believe in bringing our own centre community together. Our annual Christmas show, whānau picnic, Waitangi Day, Chinese New Year, Diwali and Matariki soup night and are just a few of the many traditions we love to share with our centre whānau, because whānau truly matter at Kindercare.
Kiwi Room (babies room)
We believe your infant should be treasured, in safe, loving care – just as you would want for them. And that’s what you’ll find in this room. Here, you and your baby will immediately sense peace, warmth and a respectful environment where your little one feels valued and assured that we’ll meet their needs. Our Kaiako provide gentle moments of care throughout the day, giving your baby individualised, focused attention. And because we understand how important it is for you to know your baby is settling, particularly during those first few days, we’ll keep in regular contact with you. You are welcome to stay with your child for any length of time, at our centre, pop in when you need to, and feel free to call us if you just need to know that they’re happy and settled. We care about what matters to.
Tūī Room (toddlers room)
With your toddler’s growing curiosity about their world, emerging independence and boundless energy, we just know they will thrive in our safe, loving toddlers’ room. Filled with the sweet sounds of laughter and activity, our team create an environment that inspires wonder, excitement and plenty of opportunities for your little one to safely explore and interact with innovative set-ups, that help nurture their self-help and social skills. Guided by our Kaiako, your little one will be encouraged to help set their own meal table, help us tidy-up and even use the toilet, when they’re ready. And as for their growing autonomy, we love that about them, and are there to support them each step of the way. You’ll find your child will have fun-filled days enjoying music and movement, climbing, running, jumping, skipping, hopping – all so integral to the development of their gross motor skills.
Takahē Room (preschool and transition to school Room)
Social and emotional competence is essential for your child to succeed at school, and throughout their lives. That’s why our “You Can Do It” program is so wonderful – because in a play-based way, it teaches your capable preschooler all about organisation, building resilience, being persistent, nurturing self-confidence and developing a strong sense of well-being and self-esteem in your preschooler.
Particularly once they approach school age, our Transition to School Room prepares your child for a smooth transition into primary school. We offer a curriculum rich in opportunities for your child to question, research, be articulate and express themselves creatively - all by contributing to topics that reflect their interests. Group projects are another way we’ll help your child challenge their abilities while developing their social skills, whether through researching a topic or planning a special event for their whānau.
In our preschool rooms, your child will also benefit through fun-filled programs that introduce them to early literacy and numeracy (including home reading) and digital technology as a learning tool. And through our close partnerships with the local primary schools, your child will become more familiar with their future learning environment.
Your involvement in this room is really encouraged, as it supports your child’s growth and learning, as well as other tamariki. You may want to join us at mat time, sharing an activity / skill that you have. Or, why not consider joining us on one of our field trips? We know you’ll have fun!
By the time your preschooler leaves our care, they will be confident, capable and prepared for that exciting step forward to primary school.
Our world of outdoor play
Your child will enjoy fun-filled days in each of our three safe, tree-shaded outdoor spaces - including a vegetable garden. Our tamariki learn how to grow vegetables from scratch, then enjoy during meal times at Kindercare. We also hold a farmer’s market each year, inviting your child to grow seedlings and bake goodies for your entire whānau to enjoy. Because movement is at the very heart of your child’s intellectual, social and physical development, it’s woven effortlessly into each day – supporting your child’s growth and development.
A little about our team
Our dedicated team want to assure you that as well as keeping your child safe, and cherishing them through loving care and fun-filled learning, we’re also here for you and your whānau. Because like you, we want the best for your child during these early years. So, we’ll listen when you talk to us and we’ll work with you, every step of the way, to ensure you have peace of mind that when you leave your little with us, we’ll be meeting their needs, and the aspirations you have for them.
We warmly invite you to visit our centre, meet our passionate and knowledgeable team. We know you will feel the love we have for your child and our commitment to treasuring them, while they’re away from your care. We tell parents who visit us that the most important thing to be aware of when choosing a centre for your child is ‘how it makes you feel’.
We look forward to meeting you, and sharing all of the wonderful things that make Kindercare Three Kings an amazing place to enrol your child.
