Transition to School

Like you, we want the best for your child. So we don’t compromise on safe, supportive, care and education. Our team works hard to ensure your family receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee, which includes:

  • a generous annual leave allowance
  • a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at the centre daily – so you won’t need to pack kai
  • healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
  • our Positive Parenting Program – offering tips, advice and support for every family

Because every child has different needs, we ask that you supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.

If you would like to learn more about our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability, please let us know. We’re happy to talk though any questions or provide whatever information you may need, to help you make the best decision for your child and your family.

What’s the first step?

At our daycare centre in Frankton, we partner with families from the very beginning through our open-door policy. So, simply give us a call and let us know when you’d like to come in for a visit. We’d love the opportunity to show you around our safe, nurturing centre, while answering any questions you may have.

Why choose our centre?

Providing safe, loving care and learning since 2009, our centre is designed to care for your child from infancy until they are ready for primary school, which is usually 5 years old. Your child will thrive in the supportive care of our devoted team, who will nurture a loving relationship with them.

Our team love what they do, and where they’re doing it; they value cultural diversity and advocate for every child. When you choose our early childhood centre, you’re entrusting your child to a team of professionals who will guide your child with a positive, fun-loving attitude and recognise your little one’s amazing potential.

So, no matter what stage of development your child is in, they’ll have the continuous support of Kaiako they know and love, and who will foster their growth and learning, now and into the future.

Each fun-filled indoor and outdoor environment is intentionally planned to provide the nurturing care, creative learning and social opportunities best suited for your child’s individual needs.

Our care and learning

At Kindercare Frankton, we believe that helping your child reach their full potential begins with a safe, loving environment, unhurried interactions with our nurturing team, and a fun-filled curriculum that allows them to learn and grow through play.

We also believe in partnering with you to ensure we understand your aspirations for your child’s care and learning. So, besides our daily chats and exchanging of information, we create enjoyable ways for your family to catch up with us, at our centre. These include cultural and special events, like our Christmas production, where you’ll have the opportunity to join us as your precious child takes the stage.

We also offer specialised programs to support your needs. Our Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), for example, helps promote a strong, healthy relationship between you and your child by learning how to identify, manage and prevent emotional and behavioural problems.

And our Family Services coordinator is a service to support you with budgeting assistance, health services and child behaviour advice.  All of this, through our connections with community and child development networks.

Kiwi Room (babies room)

We understand your baby’s best care begins with you. That’s why we partner with you to ensure your baby receives the nurturing, loving care you want for them, in a safe, relaxed, ‘home-away-from-home’ environment.

So, we work with you to implement their home routine as closely as possible, while getting to know your pēpi and their individual needs through warm interactions, gentle care moments and lots of cuddles throughout their day.

We’ll also encourage your little one to explore their surroundings because we know the research shows that movement is essential for brain and gross motor skills development. Indoors and out, your child will participate in fun-filled activities like music, painting and water play. And you’ll be up to speed on your child’s progress, thanks to our daily chats, journals and online Educa portfolios.

Tūī Room (toddlers room)

We believe your wonderful, energetic toddler needs a fun-filled, flexible environment to guide them through this exciting stage of independence. And that’s what our Toddlers Room is all about. So we’ve designed our safe, loving, consistent environment to support your child as they learn through play, while building developmental skills. Regular meal, sleep, and mat times are woven into opportunities for your little one to move and explore, both indoors and outside. And they’ll definitely love doing so in our expansive outdoor play areas, where your child can engage in climbing, swinging, crossing bridges and sandpit play –all of which support the development of their gross motor, balance and spatial awareness.

And because it’s all about partnership with families and whānau, we keep in touch with you about your child’s progress - to ensure we’re providing the best possible care and learning for them. We’ll do this through open conversations, daily journals and you child’s online Educa portfolio.

Pūkeko and Takahē Rooms (preschool rooms)

When it comes to preschoolers, we understand it’s all about having fun, building relationships and developing the foundational skills they need for school. Enquiry-based learning through group projects is one way we do this, as this supports your child as they work with others, collaborating, taking turns and investigating. This will also give your preschooler the opportunity to gain skills in researching and making discoveries - all guided by their individual abilities and interests.

Our fun-filled programs foster early literacy, digital exploration, and your child’s social and emotional competencies. These include confidence and self-worth, which are essential for school, and for life.

The creative design of our spacious outdoor play area is all about developing physical and independence skills through active play on swings, a sandpit, slide and climbing frames. And through painting, water play and experiences related to the current room focus, your child will also exercise their imagination while nurturing a love of learning.

Kōtuku Room (transition to school room)

We offer a transition to school program, because we understand the importance of preparing your preschooler for that big step into primary school. Our dedicated, skilled Kaiako offer a program that is designed to ensure a smooth transition into primary school through building the necessary foundation skills and introducing the school experience. Your child will participate in fun-filled individual and group activities that build their social, emotional and early literacy competence

Your child will enjoy our regular ‘lunch box days’, where we introduce your preschooler to the kura lunch experience by guiding them through how to unwrap and enjoy a packed lunch from Kindercare. Through practical activities like these and more, your child will feel ready and supported as they move on to primary school.

Our world of outdoor learning

Movement is essential to your little one’s brain development. When they’re active, they’re learning, which is why we provide spacious, outdoor areas where your child can play, explore, and gain control over their body. All of this, while developing the confidence and foundational skills that will prepare them for school.

A little about our team

At our childcare centre, our team understands the importance of secure, loving relationships and respectful care, for your child - especially during these early years. They also realise the impact of a fun-loving, positive attitude that recognises your little one’s incredible potential. All of this is what you and your child will discover from our passionate, nurturing team at Kindercare in Frankton.

Our multicultural team are actively committed to providing consistent, creative care and learning for all tamariki – because they know that when your little one feels safe and loved at all times, they’ll always be ready to learn.

You’re invited…

I became a teacher because it was important to me that I was making a difference in my community, and everyday as I walk through this centre I see that same passion expressed through the actions of the Kaiako here.

We believe that when our tamariki feel happy and safe, they are free to explore and develop at their own pace, and to reach their fullest potential.

Through respect, whanaungatanga, and a culture of kindness, we aim to promote a sense of belonging and well-being within our tamariki, our whānau, and the community.
