That’s why you’ll find a genuine warmth in the welcome you receive when you pop in, no matter what time of day that is - because we believe your family matters and we want to do the very best for your child.
So, if you’re looking for a loving environment, enriched by cultural diversity, and a heart-felt desire to support families, your child will find a real home and a culture of kindness at our centre in Massey Street.
We are centrally located, with a short 5 minute drive to the city centre, WINTEC and the Waikato Hospital.

What We Offer
Unhurried, safe environments, loving staff and an exciting learning program nurture children from birth to 5 years.
In our spacious and safe outdoor play areas, your child will have the opportunity to play, explore and gain confidence and control of his/her body. This benefit’s your child because movement is essential for healthy brain development in babies, toddlers and preschoolers. When your child is active, they’re learning – which is why our curriculum and care can make such a difference to developing your child’s potential in their early years.
Parents and families are invited to spend time in the centre, or in our centre community, where you’ll enjoy fun, cultural and special events through the year.
A popular one with children and families is our Christmas production. Held every 2 years, families love this because it’s an opportunity to see your precious child up on stage, in the spotlight!
As well as respectful care and creative learning for your child, you’ll find you are able to access a number of programs that support not only children, but families as well.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)
Offering parenting support, advice and guidance through either one-on-one, or group discussions. A qualified, skilled facilitator is available to work alongside parents and families, providing simple, practical strategies to help with child behaviour management, understanding children’s development and building strong, healthy relationships.

Family Services Coordinator
Providing support to families and children in areas including budgeting assistance, health services and advice on child behaviour.
This role links in with various community networks for child development support and also supports teachers and children at our centre by designing unique learning plans for your child, to ensure everything possible is done to enable them to reach their full potential.
Let me tell you a little more about how we’ll care for your child at each stage of their development:

Your baby will be treasured in a relaxed, safe and loving environment, in the care of qualified, nurturing teachers who are committed to partnering with you to provide a home-away-from-home for your infant.
Keeping you informed about your little one’s well-being and development is so important to us. You’ll find daily chats, journals and Educa (our online portfolios) are really effective in supporting our partnership, allow for exchange of information and link home and centre life closely.
Our first priority is to get to know your baby so we can be responsive to their needs, and follow your home routine as closely as possible, at the centre.
You’ll find that we value the relationship with your baby above all else and that’s why they’ll receive regular warm interactions and gentle moments of care and affection throughout the day. We give lots of cuddles!
In our care, your baby will enjoy varied indoor and outdoor activities and resources including music, painting and water play.
Our invitations to play are designed to encourage your little one to explore their surroundings, develop their gross motor skills and offer plenty of opportunity and freedom to move, which is essential for their brain development.
Our team in the Babies room would love to meet you and have the privilege of cherishing your baby.

Toddlers are amazing, curious and active and your little one will thrive in our loving, friendly environment.
Understanding the needs of your child at this age enables us to use a fun-filled and flexible approach to guide them as they begin their exciting journey of discovering and asserting their independence.
Regular, open communication and meaningful conversations with you will ensure that we’re kept informed about what’s working for you and how we can support you in achieving the very best for your child’s individual development.
Through daily journals and Educa (our online portfolios), your child’s teacher and yourself are able to share stories, new interests, what’s happening at home and in the centre, photos and videos – all of which capture those precious moments in your child’s life.
Consistency and a predictable environment are so important at this stage of development and this is reflected in the daily program for your child in this room.
Meal times, sleep times, and mat times are all woven into the many other opportunities throughout the day for your toddler to enjoy freedom of movement and time to explore, indoors and outdoors.
Large outdoor play areas encourage climbing, swinging, walking, playing in the sandpit, crossing bridges – all of which benefit your child’s gross motor skill development, balance and spatial awareness.
There’s a special place for your toddler in our centre in Massey Street.

For your young child, planned daily activities in Preschool are all about having fun, strong loving relationships and supporting your child’s literacy and numeracy development.
As they explore the world, we’re alongside them to strengthen their self-help skills, self-care skills, their independence and nurturing their emotional self-worth and confidence.
In our large outdoor play area, your child will enjoy physical activities, exploration and fun-filled challenges. Swings, a sandpit, slide and climbing frames as well as activities such as painting, water-play and experiments that link in with the current room focus are all set up daily to foster your child’s imagination and keep learning fun, as they play.
At this age, your child will benefit from project work and enquiry based learning, because this develops their skill in working with others, collaborating, taking turns and investigating.
This opens up a world where your preschooler can research, explore and make discoveries – all guided by their individual abilities and areas of interest.
Several programs offered at this stage of development are designed to support your child’s learning and development including early literacy, building foundation skills for success in formal learning at school, nurturing a love of life-long learning and personal growth.
We offer Letterland (literacy program), a foundation skills program as well as “You Can Do It” – fostering your child’s social and emotional development.
Between 3½ - 5yrs old, your preschooler will be invited to participate in our weekly information technology program – Cherry.bytes. In this 30min session, your child will have the opportunity to use iPads and other technology to create, innovate and explore, under the guidance of our specialist Cherry.bytes teacher.
iPads are an interactive, multi-media learning tool for your child to use to investigate and research their world, in a safe, supervised environment that supports the current classroom focus. It’s often the highlight of the children’s week!

Transition to School Room
Our transition to school program develops and extends children's participation in group activities and continues to incorporate “You Can Do It” (social emotional learning program) and Letterland (early literacy program) that can assist in preparing children for their transition into formal education, at primary school.
We also introduce regular “Lunch Box Days” to give your child the opportunity to become familiar with experiences like packing a lunch box, unwrapping sandwiches and opening sealed packets etc – simple practical activities that all help to ensure they’re equipped to cope at primary school.
A number of primary trained Teachers work with our early childhood trained teachers to develop a program and activities that recognise and respond to your child’s age and stage of development.

The Team
At this young age, what your child needs most is secure, loving relationships and respectful care. This, along with a fun, positive attitude that recognises your son or daughter’s incredible potential is what you’ll find in our team.
Over 90% of our staff are qualified, they foster a multi-cultural environment, and they’re 100% dedicated to being advocates for all children.
The benefit to your child of our low staff turnover is that they’re able to develop strong bonds with consistent carers who understand how important it is for your child to feel safe and loved – because that’s when your child will be ready to learn.

My Commitment to You
“I've been with Kindercare since 2009. During this time, I have enjoyed teaching all age groups throughout the centre and have led the staff in the area of curriculum. I hold a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood Education.
I have two children of my own and this increases my passion to provide the best care and education for all young children.
My team and I base our philosophy on creating a “culture of kindness”. Children are at the heart of everything we do and we strive to foster an environment of respect - not only for the children, but also for your family, extended family and for our staff.
We believe that growing a spirit of trust and support promotes everyone’s sense of well-being and belonging.

What’s the First Step?
