Transition to School

Because we know you want the best for your child, as we do, we don’t compromise on safe, supportive, care and education. Our team works hard to ensure your whānau receives the highest standard of care for your weekly fee, including

  • a generous annual leave allowance
  • a nutritious midday meal, prepared fresh at thecentredaily – so you won’t need to pack kai
  • healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks to fuel your child’s play and learning
  • our Positive Parenting program – offering tips, advice and support for everywhānau

Because every child has different needs, we ask that you supply your child’s own bottles, formula and nappies for each day.

If you have questions around important information like our fees, enrolment schedules or space availability, please let us know. We’re happy to talk through things with you, to help you make the best decision for your child and your whānau

What’s the first step?

We’d love to meet you, introduce you to our passionate team, and show you around our child-centred, friendly world of fun and discovery. Pop in for a visit with your child, whenever it works for you. It may be helpful for you to be aware that, just like at home, there are certain times of the day that tend to be busier than others – like meal times, sleep times and transitioning children after their rests. So, we encourage you to pop in between 9.30am and 11am or after 2.30pm, where this is possible.

Hearing from you about what it is you are looking for, for your child’s care and learning, is important to us. This helps us to understand how we can help provide the best care and learning for your child’s individual needs.

Why choose our centre?

Providing safe, loving care and learning since 2011, our daycare centre is designed to care for your child from infancy until they are ready for primary school. Your child will be cared for alongside children of a similar age and stage of development, in a room that seamlessly flows into an outdoor play area. Each environment is intentionally planned to provide the nurturing care, creative learning and social opportunities best suited for your child’s individual needs.

Our relaxed, homely environment welcomes your child into a world of safe, loving care and learning: one that is designed around their individual needs and interests, both indoors and out. Our outdoor areas in particular provide numerous fun-filled opportunities for your child to build foundational skills for school. Created for each age and stage of development, your little one will enjoy brand new experiences and set-ups each day that encourage lots of movement, physical challenges and of course, smiles.

Our care and learning

At our childcare centre, we ensure your child feels at home and loved, with plenty of enjoyable opportunities to learn and grow - indoors and out. Nurturing relationships, lots of laughter and our safe, modern play and learning areas, with the choice of a wide range of educational resources, will bring them joy through exploring and help them develop their foundation skills. This, and so much more sets them up for success in primary school and life.

Kiwi Room (babies room)

We believe the best care for infants begins with a homely atmosphere - where their individual needs are met, and they have opportunities to learn. And that’s what our Kiwi Room is all about. Here, your baby will feel settled in our safe, loving environment, where building a supportive, trusting relationship with you and your little one is our priority.

That’s why we suggest you spend some time in the centre with your child on some shorter transition visits, before they officially start in our care. While familiarising you both with our caring Kaiako, it’s an opportunity to fill us in on your baby’s routine and individual needs. In this way, we can ensure your little one will receive the consistent, loving care you want for them.

You’ll also have the peace of mind in knowing your baby is learning and growing in indoor/outdoor areas exclusive to babies. That’s because our nurturing environments are set up specifically to meet their needs and stage of development.

Tūī and Pūkeko Rooms (toddlers and preschool 1 room)

We understand just how active toddlers are at this stage of development. That’s why we’re proud to offer a safe, supportive, loving space, where we nurture all aspects of your child’s growth and development through a variety of fun-filled learning experiences

We’ll help them to develop their independence skills, curiosity and eagerness to learn through interactive mat times; outdoor exploration, group activities; and cosy corners for some quiet times. Our experienced Kaiako will lovingly guide your toddler as they explore and test their boundaries. And there’ll be plenty of cuddles along the way.

Takahē and Kōtuku Rooms (preschool 2 and 3 rooms)

We understand the importance of feeling loved and a sense of belonging, making friends, learning foundation skills and having fun, as your preschooler grows, and then begins to prepare for the move on to primary school. And that’s what you will find in these safe, nurturing, awe-inspiring rooms.

Here, your child will enjoy play-based learning both indoors and out, through a number of enjoyable programs like “LetterLand that introduces early literacy, “You Can Do It” which builds social and emotional competence

In this room, our tamariki are also building gross motor and strength skills – vital for successful learning in school – by enjoying a specially designed playground just for them. Super fun bike track, anyone?

To ensure your little one is confidently prepared for that next big step to school, we offer a varied, fun-filled Transition to School program. This guidance and supports gives them the skills and competencies that are so important for them to make a successful transition to school.

Our world of outdoor play

Because movement is at the very heart of your child’s intellectual, social and physical development, we encourage daily time (weather permitting) having fun in our safe, inviting outdoor spaces. Here, play is all about exploring, discovering, experimenting and having fun through physical activity. Our outdoor areas include intentional set-ups that allow your child to take on physical learning challenges that naturally support their growth and development, preparing them for when they’re ready to move to the next room and stage of development.

A little about our team

Our experienced team of qualified, dedicated Kaiako are committed to keeping your child safe, loved and learning. With hearts for developing each child’s potential, they will embrace your child’s culture and needs, to give them the best care and education.

You’re invited…

With my passion and dedication to early childhood, I am delighted to be leading the team at our centre in Aotea. I love the partnerships we build with family and whānau and the environment and opportunities provided for our tamariki at Kindercare.
