You'll find what you're looking for at Kindercare in Aotea, Porirua, which is in the dedicated and experienced hands of our centre director, Maeve O'Neill.
“Located in a new and developing subdivision, you’ll find our early childhood centre provides an important, convenient and in-demand service for families.
What We Offer:
Your child will be cared for in a modern building, with access to a wide range of beautiful new resources. The fabulous outdoor area offers a safe environment for your child to explore and play, with open space to encourage movement and new set-ups each day that provide physical challenges and ensure your little one is having fun!
My team of qualified staff are from a multi-cultural background and have diverse international experience in early childhood. They are a very caring and energetic team, committed to providing the very best for your child.
A parent who visited our centre, went into the Babies room and said: “it looks just like home!” And that’s what you’ll notice in the special environment, lovingly created for your baby – it has a homely feel.
As most young children need some time to adjust to being away from you, you may want to plan ahead to allow some time for transition visits before they start, so your little one becomes familiar with Kindercare and you have some time to get to know the teachers who will be caring for your baby.
This also gives us an opportunity to talk with you about what you want for your baby and let us know their routine, so we can fit in with this and provide the best individualised care for your baby.
Your infant will be cared for in a room that is separate from the toddlers and preschoolers and the outdoor play area is also exclusively for this age group. This ensures that, whether they are inside or outside, your little one is safe.
Your baby will be able to spend time on the floor, exploring and moving and benefits from resources and set-ups that are specifically chosen and used in conjunction with our learning program, to meet the needs of children at this stage of development.
Toddlers and Preschool 1:
This room has a beautiful view out towards soft rolling hills, which the children may not always notice, but it certainly creates a lovely calm, natural environment for our parents, and for our staff to work in each day.
Children at this age tend to be a very active and so they need loving support, guidance, choices and variety of activities and new experiences to keep them engaged.
Your child will be cared for in an environment where testing the boundaries is recognised as part of the stage of development, and where his/her inquisitiveness and eagerness to learn and become more independent is treasured by the team in this room.
Between mat times, quiet corners, time outdoors and large group activities, there’s still lots of time for cuddles, laughter and encouragement.
Preschool 2 and 3:
This age group has a purpose-built playground which has been designed to develop children’s gross motor skills and strength. These are both essential in terms of developing critical foundation skills in early childhood which are essential for successful learning once your child goes to school.
The playground has its own bike track for the children to ride their bikes around and is a real hit with the children. Your preschooler will be participate in the “You Can Do It” program, which uses play and fun activities to nurture your child’s social and emotional development.
At around 3½ years old, your child will have the opportunity to join Cherry.bytes – Kindercare’s information technology program. This is a weekly session, supervised by specialist teachers who introduce your child safely to the world of technology. Using iPads as a tool for learning, your Preschooler will love this amazingly interactive experience where they research, explore, discover and create!
This room also uses the Letterland program which is a fun introduction to the alphabet – with one letter introduced each week.
And then there’s our focus on Transition to School – our program to ensure that your child is well prepared for their move to primary school. In a loving environment, with loads of new experiences, your child will be making new friends, learning, and having fun in our Preschool room.
My Commitment to You:
With my passion and dedication to early childhood, I am delighted to be leading the team at our centre in Aotea. I love the environment and opportunities provided for children at Kindercare.
