What’s the first step?

Simply give us a call and we’ll be happy to arrange a time for you to visit our centre. From the moment you walk through our doors and meet our dedicated team, we know you will feel the love and commitment we have for your family and whānau

And, as you explore our safe, natural learning environments, you’ll discover they are designed specifically to help tamariki develop skills for school, and for life - while having heaps of fun.

Why choose our centre?

Our daycare centre has been providing safe, loving care and learning since 2007. Our fun-filled play and learning areas, as well as daily care rituals have been intentionally planned and set up to provide nurturing care for your child from infancy until they are ready for primary school, alongside other tamariki at a similar age and stage of development. Both indoors and outside, you’ll find that we keep your tamariki at the heart of what we do – providing care, creative learning and social opportunities that we tailor to your child’s unique needs.

As soon as you and your tamariki walk in to our natural, engaging early childhood centre, you’ll discover an extension of your own loving home. That’s because our Kaiako understand that when it comes to building nurturing relationships and feeling ‘at home’, consistency in care and familiar faces are so important. So, your child will receive the kind of care you would choose for your child, to fill their days with joy, because they are settled and happy.

Our care and learning

At our childcare centre, we believe the best care and learning for your child is all about building that crucial connection between centre life and home life. So, we foster a strong, supportive partnership with you, because together, we can keep in touch about your child’s progress, behaviour and milestones - at home and in-centre. We’ll do this through making time for a regular korero with our, as well as through our online portfolios (Educa) and daily journals for our babies.

We also want to work with you to implement your child’s home routines as closely as possible - giving them as much consistency in their care that we can to meet their individual needs.

Above all, we want you to know that children and whānau matter to us at Kindercare in Kilbirnie. That’s why our passionate, fun-loving team embrace the multicultural background of your family and whānau. So your tamariki will feel recognised, respected and celebrated for who they are – helping them to reach their full potential.

Kiwi Room (babies room)

We understand your pēpi is right at the beginning of their exciting growth and developmental journey which is why we’re here for them every little step of the way. Your precious pēpi will receive loving, responsive care, along with opportunities to explore safely, in a calming, sensory-rich environment.

And because a strong relationship with you and your child is the foundation of our Kiwi Room, we partner with you to implement your baby’s home routine as closely as possible. In this way, your child will receive consistent, predictable care each day, which will settle them, and foster a sense of belonging.

Through interest-based play, within our specially designed, flexible set-ups, your infant will also have the opportunity to move freely, and investigate. It’s our way of helping them develop their self-confidence and growing curiosity.

Tūī Room (toddlers room)

We believe toddlers need a nurturing, predictable environment that embraces their non-stop energy, growing independence and eagerness to learn. And that’s what our Kaiako build a strong, loving relationship with your tamariki, provide a consistent daily routine, and promote a sense of belonging, so your child will settle right in to the fun.

Here, your little one will learn through interest-based play, allowing them to use their whole bodies and boundless energy to make discoveries, build self-confidence, explore their independence and develop foundation skills. They’ll do all of this with the support of warm one-on-one interactions, exciting resources and plenty of cuddles along the way. Our Kaiako love working with this age group and your child will love what we have planned for them.

Pūkeko and Takahē Rooms (preschool rooms)

The best way for our tamariki to grow and to learn is by having fun - in an environment where they feel safe and valued. And in these rooms, our Kaiako lovingly guide your preschool child as they participate in play-based learning, both indoors and outside.

This includes a number of fun-filled programs that introduce early literacy and numeracy; build vocabulary; and develop independent, social and emotional competencies. Along with integrating this valuable life skills, your child will have daily opportunities for dramatic play, large and small group activities, exploration and discovery. These are essential for helping your tamariki to build positive relationships, develop, and learn throughout their lives. We’re here to partner with you and whānau, to ensure our care and learning meets your child’s individual needs.

Kōtuku Room (transition to school room)

We understand taking the big step on to school is a big change for you and for your tamariki. That’s why have invested in our Transition to School program, because we believe our fun-filled activities where your child learns through play, help to ensure that your son or daughter are well prepared for a transition into school.

In our Kōtuku Room, your child will build their independence and the essential skills they need to thrive in a formal school setting. These include expressing their ideas and feelings, confidently and competently, being given the opportunity to take on leadership roles, participate in group projects involving choices and decision-making, as well as being encouraged to research, exploring and discovering.

Your child’s confidence will continue to develop through exciting opportunities like ‘show and tell’, and ‘lunch box days’. This real-life learning activity introduces them to the school lunch experience by showing them how to unwrap, manage and enjoy a packed lunch from Kindercare.

Our world of outdoor play

It’s because movement is at the very heart of your child’s intellectual, social and physical development that we offer safe, expansive outdoor spaces where your child can play, explore, discover, experiment and make friends through physical activity. These areas not only support your little one’s growth and learning, but also their confidence to transition smoothly into the next room and stage of development.
