Kia Ora,

At Kindercare Lower Hutt, we believe that because each child is unique in their strengths, interests and needs, our approach to care, learning and teaching each child should reflect that. So you’ll find exactly that when you visit our centre.

Our centre provides a calm, warm, homely and inclusive atmosphere where tamariki can develop secure attachments, freely participate, and take risks. Our whānau tell us that at this Lower Hutt childcare centre, it’s the safe, nurturing environment that evokes a ‘good feeling’. That matters to us, and, we’re confident you’ll feel the same. Our responsive relationships and culturally rich environments are designed to facilitate meaningful learning, embrace diversity, and minimise barriers to participation, respecting the cultural heritage of Aotearoa.

As a Centre Director, it’s a privilege to be a part of the early years of a child’s life, and an absolute delight to get to work alongside tamariki as they learn, grow and thrive. So, if you’re looking for something that’s just a little different, and offers just a little more for your baby, toddler or preschooler, why don’t you come and see us?

My team and I would love to meet you, spend some time with you, and show you around our beautiful centre; you’ll soon discover that our centre has been lovingly and thoughtfully created for tamariki.

Why Choose Our Centre

Simply put, it’s because we offer outstanding early childhood care and learning. But here are a few other great reasons:

  • We have a high ratio of qualified Kaiako, all of whom are rich in experience and diverse in skills.
  • Because we’re big on catering to a child’s individual needs, you’ll find this especially notable in our room for children under two years old. We have personalised routines for each child, tailored to their growing needs.
  • Our operational hours allow us to provide flexible options to suit your family’s needs, with full-time and part-time care.
  • Kai is included. We provide high-quality plant-based whole-food meals for tamariki—all cooked on-site and prepared with love.
  • We pride ourselves in values such as whānau, honesty, respect, kindness, love, caring for others, fun, empathy and integrity. These are foundational values to the mahi that we do in developing each child’s full potential in partnership with parents.
  • We offer a generous leave policy because we understand the unpredictability of children’s absences.

About Our Care

Childcare at our centre is designed to meet whānau aspirations and the needs of each child, with age-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout their day.

Here, because children matter, their voice also matters. So as they progress through our centre, we empower them to actively engage in the decision-making process when it comes to their learning, allowing them to grow at their own pace and reach their full potential. We believe that by recognising and nurturing their unique strengths, we provide a solid foundation for children to learn naturally, through active exploration and joyful play. And as they transition to their formal schooling years, we offer a great pathway to kura, particularly intentional about literacy, digital technology integration, our Head, Heart, Hands practices as well as You Can Do It! to support their social-emotional competencies.

Since 2007, we have been an integral part of the community, offering a dynamic and engaging learning program that fosters innovative thinking, discovery, and curiosity. Our convenient location on Connolly Street is just minutes away from public transport, making it ideal for parents with daily commutes.

Furthermore, one of the benefits of our centre is our culturally diverse team because it creates opportunities for tamariki to learn and grow through a variety of experiences and perspectives. If English is not your child’s first language, among our team, Kaiako speak multiple languages, which we believe allows us to facilitate a smooth transition into our daycare centre.

We understand that families have different childcare needs, and we would love to discuss them with you. This enables us to provide a tailored approach to your child’s care, learning and fees, to support their growth.

So we welcome you to visit us if you’re looking for childcare options to suit your family. Experience the Kindercare difference; we know you and your child will love it here!
