Children’s Annual Leave Policy (Greenhithe)
Rationale
The purpose of this policy is to provide a benefit and assistance to parents and whānau in planning and managing those times when your child is away from the centre – for holidays, periods of sickness and/or for statutory holidays. As part of our commitment to working in partnership with parents and whānau, we reserve the right to flexibility and discretion regarding this Annual Leave, in order to accommodate and support unique circumstances of our parents and whānau.
Policy Details
The Kindercare annual leave year runs from 1 January and ends on 31 December. For the purposes of this policy, Annual Leave at Kindercare includes sick leave, statutory holidays and holiday leave.
- The first week of holiday leave is charged at full fees.
- To be eligible for no fees, families must take 2 or more consecutive weeks of holiday leave. The first week is charged and up to two additional consecutive weeks may be taken with no charge.
- All leave is subject to the available leave balance. No-fee leave can only be applied if sufficient leave entitlement remains.
Please note:

Leave must be taken in one continuous block of at least 2 consecutive weeks to qualify for the no-fee portion.
- Non-consecutive leave will not qualify for the no-fee holiday allowance.
Extended Absences:
- If you are planning an extended absence, please apply for holiday leave by emailing gr********@***********co.nz with at least 14 days’ notice. Be sure to include "Leave Request Application" in the subject line of your email.
- If you do not or cannot provide written notice via email with at least 14 days' notice, a weekly fee equivalent of up to two weeks’ charges will need to be paid for the period of the extended absence.
- Full fees will apply to Statutory Holidays, unless they fall within a period of approved consecutive holiday leave where no fees apply
